Certification on Your Schedule
Virtual Smoke School gives organizations a straightforward way to manage Method 9 training and certification without scheduling around an in-person smoke school.
Each trainee needs their own registration, but VR headsets can be shared between trainees. Once assigned, each trainee moves through the process at their own pace.

Everything begins with a registration. From there, getting a trainee ready for VR certification takes just a few steps.
Register
Each trainee needs their own Virtual Smoke School registration.
Choose the Starter Kit if you need our dedicated VR headset, or choose Registration if you already have access to a compatible headset.
Assign Your Trainee
The registration contact receives access to the management dashboard. From there, simply assign each registration to the trainee who will complete the training and certification.
Complete the Lecture
Each registration includes a FREE Online Method 9 Lecture. The lecture is completed outside of the VR headset and covers the classroom portion of Method 9 training.
Trainees who need the lecture complete it before beginning their VR certification.
Standard Values → Practice → Certification
Once training is complete, the trainee enters Virtual Smoke School and moves through the VR certification process at their own pace.
Sign In & Start
The trainee puts on the headset, signs in using their email address, and follows the on-screen prompts to begin.
Review Standard Values
Before practice begins, trainees review known white and black opacity values to become familiar with how different opacity levels appear in the virtual environment.
Practice as Much as You Need
Take unlimited practice tests before beginning certification. Each practice reading provides immediate feedback so trainees can compare their answer with the correct opacity value.
Practice until you're ready to certify.Complete the Certification Test
When ready, the trainee completes the Method 9 certification test consisting of 25 white smoke readings and 25 black smoke readings.
Pass, Certify & Stay Current
Receive Your Certificate
Upon passing, the trainee's Method 9 certificate is emailed automatically and is also available through the dashboard.
Didn't Pass?
Review your results, return to practice, and retake the certification test as many times as needed until you pass.
Recertification Reminder
Method 9 certification is valid for six months. We'll send a reminder when it's time to certify again.
